Who we are

Kōda OS ("we", "us", "our") is a trading journal application available at kodatrade.co.uk. We are operated by an independent developer (Dylon Nyland). For privacy enquiries, contact us at support@kodatrade.co.uk.

What data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

Account data: Your email address and password (managed by Supabase Auth). If you sign in via Google OAuth, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
Profile data: Display name, @handle, avatar (emoji or uploaded image), bio, broker, timezone, and social links you choose to add.
Trade data: Trade entries including pair, date, P&L, R-multiple, strategy, session, notes, emotion tags, and optionally screenshot images. All trade data is private to you unless you explicitly enable "Public Trades" in Settings.
Social data: Circle memberships, follow relationships, published feed posts, and reactions/comments on trades.
Billing data: If you subscribe to Kōda OS Pro, your payment is processed by Stripe. We store only your Stripe Customer ID — we never see or store your card details.
Usage data: We may collect basic usage telemetry (errors, page views) via Sentry if enabled. No personally identifiable information is included in error reports.

How we use your data

To provide and maintain the Kōda OS service
To display your public profile and feed posts to other users (only if you have enabled public sharing)
To process Pro subscription payments via Stripe
To send transactional emails (e.g. password reset) via Supabase Auth
To diagnose and fix errors in the application

We do not sell your data. We do not use your trade data for advertising. We do not share your data with third parties except as described below.

Third-party services

Supabase — database and authentication. Data is stored in EU-based servers. See Supabase Privacy Policy.
Stripe — payment processing. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant. See Stripe Privacy Policy.
Vercel — hosting and serverless functions. See Vercel Privacy Policy.
Sentry (optional) — error monitoring. No PII is included in error reports.

Public vs private data

By default, all your trade data is private. You can opt in to making trades public via the "Public Trades" toggle in Settings. When public, your trades appear on your public profile page and may appear in the feeds of users who follow you.

Your display name, @handle, avatar, and bio are always public once your profile is set up — this is necessary for the social features (Circles, following, public profiles) to work.

Circle chat messages are visible to all members of that circle.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete My Account), all your private data is permanently erased from our database within 24 hours. Public data (feed posts cached by other users' browsers) may persist for a short period in browser cache.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

Access to the personal data we hold about you
Correction of inaccurate data
Deletion of your data (use the in-app delete function or email us)
Portability of your data (export via Settings → Export CSV)
Objection to processing

Cookies

We use essential cookies and browser storage (localStorage, sessionStorage) to keep you signed in and save your preferences. With your consent, we also use PostHog analytics cookies to understand aggregate product usage — you can accept or reject these via the cookie banner. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell data. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.

Children

Kōda OS is not intended for users under 16 years of age. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
